Upright meaning
The Emperor builds the frame that lets things last. Rules, boundaries, discipline — unglamorous and load-bearing. He appears when a situation is suffering from a lack of structure rather than a lack of passion.
The Emperor reversed
Control for its own sake: rules that no longer serve their purpose, or a person insisting on authority they have not earned. Can also mean the opposite — nobody is holding the frame and everything sags.
In love
Stability and clear terms, which some read as unromantic and others as exactly what was missing. May describe a partner who shows care through reliability rather than expression.
In career and money
Structure, seniority, systems. Favours formalising what has been improvised — contracts, processes, defined roles.
