Twelve Major Arcana cards engraved in gold on navy across a zodiac wheel; The Lovers is the card of Gemini

Gemini tarot cards

Gemini’s tarot correspondences are The Lovers, the Eight of Swords, the Nine of Swords, the Ten of Swords, and the Knight of Swords. Read together, they connect questions of choice and union with the ways thought can restrict, agitate, exhaust, or mobilize you. Gemini’s mutable Air adapts through speech and judgment, but adapting is not the same as keeping every option open. The group gives you a way to examine where considering alternatives helps a decision—and where it becomes a substitute for making one.

The Lovers, the trump of Gemini

Major Arcana VI · Hebrew letter Zayin · Air, mutable

In Book T, the link runs through Zayin: this Hebrew letter anchors the correspondence between Gemini and The Lovers. It is a formal assignment within the system, rather than a conclusion you need to draw from the card’s appearance. Within that framework, The Lovers is read as a question about choosing what you can genuinely join yourself to.

Gemini brings thought, speech, and the ability to adapt to that question. If you and a partner keep revising a shared plan to accommodate each other, you might ask whether the agreement still reflects what you each value. Read alongside the Swords cards, that question distinguishes useful discussion from thinking that postpones commitment.

The three decans of Gemini

Gemini is split into three parts of 10°, and each takes one of the Swords: the suit of Air, numbered Eight to Ten for a mutable sign. Each decan also has a planet, and its trump is worth reading alongside.

Eight of Swords

1st decan · 0°–10° · May 21–31 · ♃︎ Jupiter in Gemini · Lord of Shortened Force

Jupiter expands, while Gemini keeps generating alternatives through thought and speech. In the Eight of Swords, that combination is read as confidence in considering more possibilities becoming a restriction of its own. You might keep requesting advice about a decision until every suggestion supplies another reason not to act. The useful question is whether more information would help, or simply enlarge the argument for staying put.

Planet card: Wheel of Fortune (Jupiter)

Nine of Swords

2nd decan · 10°–20° · June 1–10 · ♂︎ Mars in Gemini · Lord of Despair and Cruelty

An argument you keep rehearsing after everyone else has gone to sleep gives Mars in Gemini a concrete setting. Mars supplies the heat and drive; Gemini gives that drive words, counterarguments, and revisions. The Nine of Swords is read as conflict continuing inside thought when there is nothing immediate to resolve. You can ask whether you are preparing to speak clearly or repeatedly prosecuting yourself.

Planet card: The Tower (Mars)

Ten of Swords

3rd decan · 20°–30° · June 11–20 · ☉︎ Sun in Gemini · Lord of Ruin

With the Sun in Gemini, the wish to be seen works through speech and judgment. The Ten of Swords is read as the point where an account of yourself can no longer be sustained. You might finally acknowledge that a shared project has ended after repeatedly explaining why it could still work. Beside The Lovers, this asks what you can honestly choose once that explanation is no longer available.

Planet card: The Sun (Sun)

The court card of Gemini

Knight of Swords

20° Taurus – 20° Gemini · May 11 – June 10 · Fire of Air

The Knight of Swords is read as thought moving directly into action: Fire of Air gives speech urgency. Its span begins in Taurus and covers only the first part of Gemini, so this style is not exclusively Gemini’s. In a reading for someone born in that Taurus portion, you might examine an email sent before anyone could discuss its proposal. The overlap keeps you focused on behavior rather than a sign stereotype; the Queen of Cups covers Gemini’s final third.

The last 10° of Gemini (June 11–20) belong to the Queen of Cups, which runs on to 20° Cancer. Books that swap the Kings and Knights read this card as Aquarius.
